In formal writing, contractions such as ‘don’t’ and ‘isn’t’ are usually written out in full as ‘do not’ and ‘is not’. PerfectIt prompts the user when it finds any of these contractions and suggests the full text as a replacement.
Contractions are frequently used in quotations as well as marketing literature and other documents. If you are working with less formal text, it may be preferable not to run this check. For instructions on how to skip this check automatically, see Choosing Checks.
Customizing the Check ¶
You can add exceptions that PerfectIt should never check in the Never Find tab of the style sheet editor or you can customize the check as you work.
