Checking for More Errors

Checks, Errors and Locations

Each check that PerfectIt runs may find a number of errors, with each error potentially appearing in a number of places in the document. The way PerfectIt 4 displays this information is shown below:

Moving to the Next Error

You can go on to the next error by clicking the Next button. If there are no more errors within a check, clicking the Next button will automatically start the next check.

Moving Back

To go back and review the previous error within a check, click the Back button. The Back button only moves within a check, not to a previous check. For example, it will move back within the Capitalization of Phrases check, but will not go back to the Abbreviations Without Definitions check.

Restarting PerfectIt

You can go back to PerfectIt’s opening screen by clicking the Checks menu option and choosing Restart.

Repeating a Check

You can repeat the current check by clicking PerfectIt’s Checks menu option and then choosing Repeat Check.

Note

If you repeat a check, PerfectIt will lose some of the information it gathers at the start. As a result, sections such as references and other excluded styles may appear in results. To repeat a check without that happening, restart PerfectIt and run it again.

Jump to Another Check

You can jump directly to the next check (or any other remaining or previous check) using the menus. Click the Checks menu option, then Select Check and then choose the check you want.
