Privacy Policy

Intelligent Editing ("us", "we", or "our") operates www.intelligentediting.com (the “Website”) and PerfectIt (the "Subscribed Services").

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use the Subscribed Services.

Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as our Service and Subscription Agreement.

The data we collect depends on whether you access the Website, if you sign up for our newsletter, and which version of PerfectIt you use:

Newsletter. We send out an email newsletter that may include your name and email address. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email we send.

Downloadable Software. PerfectIt Classic (formerly known as “PerfectIt Pro” or “PerfectIt Standard”) is the downloadable version of PerfectIt for PCs. It is usually referred to by its version number (for example, “PerfectIt 3” or “PerfectIt 4”).

Cloud Service. PerfectIt Cloud service is the version of PerfectIt available from the Microsoft Office Store, which works over the Internet, with automated updates and no installer. Your right to access or use PerfectIt Cloud services is provided as a service on a subscription basis. Each time that you access or use PerfectIt Cloud services, your Subscription will be verified. Certain limited information, including the Activation Information and information regarding your Microsoft account (the “Verification Information”) will be transmitted to us for this purpose only. If you use the PerfectIt Cloud service, your documents are transmitted to a server temporarily. Transmitted documents are encrypted and are not available to anyone but you.

Personal Information. While purchasing the Subscribed Services, we ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your email address, name, phone number, postal address, other information (“Personal Information”).

Information Collection and Use. During activation of the Subscribed Services, we will ask you to enter and transmit Activation Information. Your name and email address is the only Personal Information included in Activation Information. The Activation Information is used for verification purposes only so that we may activate your access to the Subscribed Services. The PerfectIt Classic software will not automatically collect or send any Personal Information or information about your computer software or hardware to us.

How We Use Your Information. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Subscribed Services. By using the Subscribed Services, you agree to the collection and use of information under this policy.

Log Data. If you use PerfectIt Cloud services, we may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit the Intelligent Editing website or use the PerfectIt Cloud service (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s IP address, operating system, browser type, browser version, the pages of the Intelligent Editing website you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. PerfectIt Classic software does not create or send Log Data.

Cookies. Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive. If you use the Website or PerfectIt Cloud services, we may use “cookies” to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of the Subscribed Services. PerfectIt Classic software does not use cookies.

Service Providers. For PerfectIt Cloud services, we may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate providing the Subscribed Services, to provide the Subscribed Services on our behalf, or to perform services related to the Subscribed Services. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Analytics. We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service. Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. Support. We use FreshDesk by FreshWorks for support tickets. Their privacy policy is at: https://www.freshworks.com/privacy/

Email. We use Gmail by Google. Their privacy policy is at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en

Sales and Marketing. We use Close by Close. Their privacy policy is at: https://close.com/privacy/. We use Facebook Ads by Facebook. Their privacy policy is at: https://www.facebook.com/policy.php. We use LinkedIn Ads by LinkedIn. Their privacy policy is at:  https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

Internal Communications. We use Podio by Citrix. Their privacy policy is at: https://www.citrix.com/about/legal/privacy/

Data Storage. We use OneDrive by Microsoft. Their privacy policy is at: https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement

Payments. We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information. The payment processors we work with are:

  • PayPal. Their Privacy Policy can be viewed at https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full

Communications. We may use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may interest you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email we send. Compliance with Laws. We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law or under an order of a court of competent jurisdiction, or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement or to protect the security or integrity of the Subscribed Services.

Security. The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. As such we make no warranties as to the level of security afforded to your data, except that we will always act under the UK and EU legislation. PerfectIt Classic software does not automatically transmit any information over the Internet.

International Transfer. If you use PerfectIt Cloud services, your information, including Personal Information, may be transferred to—and maintained on—computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction. If you are located outside United Kingdom and provide information to us, we may transfer the information, including Personal Information, to the United Kingdom and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer. If a dispute arises regarding the international transfer of data, you agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over the matter.

Your Data Protection Rights Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. Intelligent Editing aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data. If you wish to be informed what Personal Data we hold about you and if you want it to be removed from our systems, please contact us.

Links to Other Sites. The Subscribed Services may contain links to other sites not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third-party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy. Our Service addresses no one under the age of 16 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you know that your Children has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we learn we have collected Personal Information from a child under age 16 without verification of parental consent, we try to remove that information from our servers.

Changes to this Privacy Policy. We may update our Privacy Policy occasionally. If we change this Privacy Policy, we will notify you either through the email address you have provided us, or by placing a prominent notice on our website. You are advised to review the Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to the Privacy Policy are effective when posted.

Consistency Checker and Abbreviation List

We offer two add-ons for Google Docs called Consistency Checker and Abbreviation List. They are also available as add-ins for MS Word. The privacy policy for these programs is identical to PerfectIt Cloud services except for one difference. When Consistency Checker and Abbreviation List transmit documents, those documents are not encrypted when they are saved to the server (though, like PerfectIt Cloud services, they are encrypted during transmission).

Legal Information

All information and software on this web site is provided 'as is', without any other warranties or conditions, express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, or those arising by law, statute, usage of trade, or course of dealing. Intelligent Editing assumes no responsibility for errors or omissions in the information or software or other documents which are referenced by or linked to this website.

References to corporations, their services and products are provided 'as is', without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. In no event shall Intelligent Editing be liable for any special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages of any kind, or any damages whatsoever, including, without limitation, those resulting from loss of use, data or profits, whether or not advised of the possibility of damage, and on any theory of liability, arising out of or in connection with the use, reliance on or performance of this information.
